We heard so many times that “We learn from history that we do not learn from history”. We’re witnessing attrocities all around the world, innocent people getting killed, christians martyring, politicians starting wars. Last weekend, we had another history and life lesson with our college students group.
Together with 120 people, we visited one of the saddest places on earth, the Natzi concentration camps in Auschwitz, Poland. We all knew the history, but it’s so different when you can see it first hand. It’s also hard to accept that it happened only 70 years ago. It simply leaves you with many questions about human sinful nature, a lifetime experience that we will never forget.
We also enjoyed the beautiful city of Krakow, an important catholic pole. It was amazing to see the old part of the city, the cathedrals, the castles, the old jewish town and the thousands of tourists flooding the streets every day. And all this, just a few kilometres away from Auschwitz.
